About

Author Photo of Jessi Jezewska Stevens

I’m the author of novels The Exhibition of Persephone Q (a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice) and the The Visitors, as well as the forthcoming short story collection Ghost Pains (UK & US on March 5, 2024).

My fiction, reporting, and criticism appear in Foreign Policy, The Dial, The New York Times, Harper’s, The New Yorker online, The Nation, The Paris Review, New York Magazine, Bookforum, 4Columns, and elsewhere. I’ve received fellowships from the German-American Fulbright Commission, the Robert B. Silvers Foundation, and the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference.

Based in Geneva, I cover European culture and climate movements.

In 2021-2022, I was a Fulbright Scholar in Berlin, working on climate change narratives and political feasibility as mediated through literature and art, with support from the Potsdam-Institut für Klimafolgenforschung and Humboldt-Universität. Some recent work on this topic here and here and here.
